Starbucks and McDonalds

Sidenote: some things never change. I have my McDonalds with me as I'm writing this (y)

Me and HP are heading into our second week of work! We've been so busy planning and coming up with ideas and more planning (boys: do you feel guilty yet?). And going to Starbucks. And McDonalds. And guitaring. And watching YouTube videos (if you haven't watched the Boyce Avenue & Fifth Harmony cover of Mirrors yet, go do it now!)

When I think of working at church for the summer, I think of Starbucks runs, shopping at the toy factory, going outside to the field.... oh and planning children's camps. But since this is my second time around, I thought I'd come up with some expectations - or what I expect to get out of this summer.

I expect to build my vocabulary of English terms. For example, instead of saying 'oh crap' I'm going to say 'oh pants' (with a British accent of course).

But in all seriousness, these are my real expectations:

The first thing that came to mind when I was thinking of what to write for this post was: I honestly expect to have a lot of fun!  It's such a nice break from school to be able to come to work and hang out with friends, at the same time, knowing that I have a part in sharing God's love with the kids in the community. And I just thought I'd add that I can't wait to make fun of Howard's accent >:)

My second expectation is to rediscover God. Maybe it's school and other distractions that have taken my attention away from pursuing God, but I'm actually looking forward to reading and reflecting, now that I have the time to.

I also want to connect with God through worship. We have a musical group this year (Sim, you can be the designated back-up vocalist...or dancer, whichever you prefer) and I think it'll be fun to just worship God together!

That's it for now! I can't wait to keep sharing how we're growing and what we're up to this summer!

Later alligators.

- M :)
